HOW IS THE TREATMENT?

Before the treatment the specialist doctor will explore and evaluate the level of flaccidity or excess skin in the area around the eyes and also the amount of fat to be eliminated.

After performing the examination and assessment, the surgeon will determine whether to use the transconjunctival blepharoplasty  technique that eliminates the  fat balls of the eyelids from the inner face. (fast and without visible scars) or transcutaneous blepharoplasty that removes them from the outside, cutting the orbicular muscle to reach the balls of fat.

In the case of upper blepharoplasty, after applying the anesthesia, two small incisions are made where the fat is extracted or the skin is stretched. Afterwards, fine sutures are made, which with the passage of time leave no visible scar.

If the patient has had previous eye surgery (cataracts, glaucoma etc…) you should consult with the specialist to study your particular case.

WHAT TO DO AFTER THE TREATMENT?
  • The patient must be accompanied, at all times, 48 hours after treatment and make a relative rest.

Do not worry as it is normal, after the treatment, to have a logical inflammation due to the intervention and some possible bruising that will disappear in the first 7 days.

The definitive effects will be noticed after 2 months, when the deflation period ends.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

– Take the medication that the specialist doctor prescribes.

– During the first days it is recommended to lubricate the eyes with eye drops (artificial tears), due to the decrease of the blinking.

ADVANTAGES

– Simple and fast intervention.

– Rejuvenates your look.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Will the bags come out again on the eyelids?

If the surgery is for eye bags or lower eyelids, they will not come out again.

If the surgery is of fallen eyelids they could appear, although in rare occasions, after 10 years. (depends on the drooping of the eyelid skin).

If I have vision problems, can I have a blepharoplasty?

Usually there is no problem, but first you should consult the specialist doctor to confirm your particular case.

How long will I be able to put on the contact lenses again?

Approximately 3 or 4 days, depending on the recovery process of each patient and you should consult with your doctor first, to be sure.

In which eyelids does blepharoplasty take place?

Both in the upper eyelids (removing excess skin), and in the lower eyelids (eliminating accumulated fat).

What anesthesia is used in blepharoplasty?

Usually local anesthesia with sedation, but if the patient requires it, general anesthesia could be applied. In any case, the anesthetist will be present at all times to ensure that the intervention proceeds correctly.

How long will I be off, after the blepharoplasty?

Usually 10 days, depending on the recovery process of each patient.

How long does the result last?

The result is permanent. The fat extracted from the eyelids does not regenerate and the skin of the upper eyelid is very difficult to regenerate.
